Nerja Donkey Sanctuary

Nerja Donkey Sanctuary is English-run donkey sanctuary rescues ill-treated and abandoned donkeys and other animals found in the Nerja area. It is open from 10-4 (10-2 on Saturday and Sunday) and you can come along and feed the animals and learn about their work. Animals are also available for 'adoption' for 20 euros a year.

El Aguila Aqueduct

A beautiful piece of 19th century engineering work, this aqueduct was built to transport water from a spring in Maro to the San Joaquin de Maro sugar factory. It can easily be seen from the N-340 from Nerja to Maro, before arriving at the autovia, close to the Nerja caves.

Nerja Markets

Nerjas two markets, the Sunday and Tuesday market. The Tuesday market is the towns main market located at the almijara site and operates from 8am to 4pm and sells a wide range of produce from fresh fruit and vegetables to music and clothing. The Sunday market is more of a 'Car Boot sale' affair where you can pick some great bargains.

Nerja Water Sports

Water-sports on Playa Burriana are available from early June, where you can jet skis, banana boats, para-sailing or gently glide around the beach on a pedalo. Nerja also has a great PADI diving school that offers a wide range of courses and experiences.

Nerja horse Riding

Horse riding is a firm favourite with visitor from trekking the riverbeds to full day excursions into the stunning almijara mountains. With over 10 stables locally you will be spoilt for choice.

Nerja Tapas Bars

Tapas bars in Nerja are perfect way to sample local cuisine and relax and enjoy the atmosphere.  Frequented by locals and tourists alike, you will find a great selection of tapas in the old part of town. Often, if you just call in for a drink you can be served with a complimentary Tapas.
